
In Sydney, Australia, at Bondi Beach during the Hanukkah celebration “Chanukah by the Sea,” two armed attackers carried out a shooting attack, killing 11 people.
SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj): December 14, 2025 – In Sydney, Australia, at Bondi Beach during the Hanukkah celebration “Chanukah by the Sea,” where more than 1,000 people had gathered, two gunmen opened fire around 6:47 pm (AEDT).
The attackers targeted the (Jewish) Hanukkah celebration with long rifles. In this incident, 11 people died in addition to one attacker (Naveed Akram, age 24) and 29 people were taken to the hospital. The second attacker (whose name has been kept confidential by authorities) is in police custody.

During this incident, a 46-year-old fruit seller (Ahmed al-Ahmed) emerged as a hero who tackled the attacker, snatched the weapon, and saved many lives.
Police have declared the attack an antisemitic terrorist attack. Officials declared the shooting a terrorist event and said the attack was “designed to target” Jewish people. An event to mark the first day of Hanukkah was taking place at Bondi Beach on Sunday. One attacker was previously known to police but was not on the immediate threat list.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called it a “targeted attack on Jewish Australians.” World leaders (such as King Charles, US officials, Israeli PM, Modi) have condemned the attack.
