Fars News Agency has confirmed the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s family members while not giving any information about the Supreme Leader

Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that Khamenei has been killed. He said that this is the “greatest opportunity” for the Iranian people to take back their country.

The president called it the “greatest opportunity” for the Iranian people to take back their country, saying that American and Israeli intelligence and tracking systems prevented Khamenei from escaping, and that other leaders were killed along with him. Trump said the attacks would continue until peace was restored in the Middle East, and congratulated the Americans, Israelis and Iranians for “justice” for terrorist attacks around the world.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a nationally televised address on February 28, 2026, “This morning, the compound of the terrorist Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the heart of Tehran was destroyed and there are many indications that this terrorist is no longer alive.” Netanyahu described it as part of a joint US-Israeli “operation” to eliminate the threat posed by the Iranian regime, and said the strikes would continue “as long as necessary.”

Amidst claims of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death, Fars News Agency (which is affiliated with the IRGC) has regrettably reported the martyrdom of Khamenei’s daughter, son-in-law, another daughter, grandchildren, and daughter-in-law. In addition, Ali Shamkhani, former secretary of Iran’s National Security Council and close advisor to Khamenei, Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Aziz Nasirzadeh, Iran’s defense minister, and several senior commanders and intelligence chiefs (such as Javad Pourhossein) are said to have been killed. In total, more than 40 Iranian officials and leaders have been claimed to have been killed by media outlets such as the US and CBS News.
