Balochistan leader Akhtar Mengal has reminded General Asim Munir of the 1971 defeat and warned that the Baloch people will not forget the atrocities of the Pakistan Army.

Balochistan leader Akhtar Mengal has reminded General Asim Munir of the 1971 defeat.
Balochistan has once again become a challenge for Pakistan. While on one hand Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir is issuing threats to intimidate India, on the other hand the failures and weaknesses of the Pakistani Army in Balochistan are being exposed day by day.
In the last few months, Baloch separatist groups have attacked the Pakistani army so much that the army is facing a conflict in its own country. In this connection, a statement by Baloch leader Akhtar Mengal has come to light, in which he clearly reminded General Munir of the historic defeat of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
General Munir, while directly threatening the Baloch separatists during a conference of expatriate Pakistanis in Islamabad, said, “Balochistan is the chandelier on Pakistan’s forehead and even the next 10 generations will not be able to separate it.” Balochistan National Party leader and former MP Akhtar Mengal responded to his statement in a very sharp manner.
Mengal said that the Pakistani army should never forget the shameful defeat of 1971 and the surrender of 90,000 soldiers. He said that not only the weapons of 90 thousand soldiers but also their trousers are hanging there today.
Pakistan’s defeat in the 1971 war is a historical blot that the country’s army and government try to hide even today. But leaders like Akhtar Mengal are challenging the army’s extremist attitude by repeatedly reminding of this defeat.
He said in his rally, “For how many generations will you remember what the Bengalis did to you? Remember that too, we have been remembering your every tyranny and excess for 75 years.”
90 Pakistani military personnel killed, Balochistan
Despite being the largest province of Pakistan, Balochistan has been economically and politically the most neglected. The decades-long armed rebellion and human rights violations here have weakened the Pakistani army. Many posts of the Pakistani army have been captured by Baloch rebels.
