A case of fraud has been registered against five people of village Mehraj Bathinda in the name of getting a higher price for the land acquired for the Bharat Mala project.

Bathinda SNPNEWS.IN Update: Ranjodh Singh Jodha, councilor of Nagar Panchayat Mehraj, had raised the matter before Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who reached Bathinda on Thursday.
After this, the police immediately took action and registered a case against Kulwinder Singh Patti Kala of village Mehraj, Parvinder Singh resident of Patti Sol Mehraj, Malkit Singh alias Bagdu resident of Patti Sol Mehraj, Jagmohan Singh resident of Patti Sol Mehraj and Harpal Singh resident of Patti Sol Mehraj.
According to the information received, MC of Mehraj Ranjot Jodha brought to the notice of the Chief Minister that in the name of land acquired under the Bharat Mala project, ‘some people have cheated farmers of crores of rupees.’ After this, the police of Rampura City police station recorded Jodha’s statement, in which he said that the land of village Mehraj and Sidhana was also acquired for the Bharat Mala project.
He said that the said persons with the intention of cheating talked to the farmers whose road was included in the project. The central government had claimed to give them Rs 50 lakh per acre for the land, but the said persons said that they would give them more money at the rate of Rs 20 lakh per acre. Therefore, they would have to pay Rs 20-20 thousand per acre. After this, a large number of farmers gave Rs 20-20 thousand per acre to the said persons of village Mehraj.
According to Yodha Mehraj, his two and a half acres of land was also acquired in the project, for which he had given Rs 42 thousand to Kulwinder Singh Bahira to get the additional Rs 20 lakh. In this way, the persons concerned collected crores of rupees from the farmers.

Jodha said that after this, when he did not get more money for the land, he asked Kulwinder Singh Bahira for his money back, but he kept on lying. After this, a written agreement was also made.On May 28, Kulwinder Singh had gathered him, Gurbachan Singh, Gurpreet Singh in the grain market regarding this issue, where the above-mentioned persons along with Kulwinder Singh were also present.
During this, Kulwinder Singh said that if he gave me the written agreement, I will return your money, to which the other farmers also agreed.He said that when he gave the written agreement to Kulwinder Singh, he tore it up and put it in his pocket. When they opposed doing so, Kulwinder Singh left from there saying that he would bring money from home. He and the other farmers waited for him for a long time but he did not return.
He said that in this way, the said person had conspired and collected money first and cheated us by tearing the agreement to return the money.
The police of City Rampura police station registered a case against the said persons and arrested Malkit Singh, Jagmohan Singh and Harpal Singh. After which the three were released on bail by the court on May 30.
After which the family members of the said persons alleged before a local journalist that the police had taken the three persons from that place to an undisclosed place by putting them in an XUV.
When they did not get any information about the concerned persons, they went to the police station and inquired from the concerned officials but did not get any response. After a long struggle of 3 hours, according to the family members, they were told that another case has been registered against the three persons on the complaint of Yodha Mehraj.
According to the lawyer of the concerned persons, today the three persons have been granted bail by the Hon’ble Court in the second case as well. According to the lawyer, a petition will be filed by the three persons in the Hon’ble High Court of Punjab and Haryana on Monday.
