The public prosecutor made several revelations in the case of Bikram Singh Majithia’s property and disproportionate assets transactions.

Bikram Singh Majithia Owns 402 Hectares Of Land Near Shimla- Gov. Prosecutor

Senior Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau Punjab on June 25 from Majithia’s house on charges of amassing assets beyond his means and some other serious charges.

At the time of Majithia’s arrest, there was a long argument between the officials and the Majithia family, after which senior officials finally calmed down the matter and Majithia was taken into custody and produced before the Mohali court. From where the government prosecutor sought remand to question Majithia, which the court accepted and remanded Majithia to the police for 7 days.

During the remand, the investigating officers took Majithia to several of his locations for questioning. Meanwhile, Bikram Singh Majithia’s lawyer filed an appeal in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to grant relief to Majithia, claiming that the charges leveled by the government were politically motivated.

Majithia was to be produced in the Mohali court today after the completion of 7 days of remand.

Meanwhile, Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and other senior leaders were taken into custody for some time near Gurdwara Amb Sahib, after which all the leaders were released.

Today, during Majithia’s appearance in the Mohali court, after hearing the arguments of the Government prosecutor, the court extended Majithia’s police remand by 4 more days.

During the press conference after the court proceedings, government prosecutor Preetinderpal Singh disclosed that we have placed the facts before the court that Bikram Singh Majithia had said that he had 0.5 hectares of land near Shimla in his declaration to the Election Commission in 2012.

While the Vigilance Bureau found 402 hectares (about 1000 acres) of benami property from the registry found during the investigation near shimla.

According to the public prosecutor, several benami properties of Majithia were found in the hills during the raid.

In 2016-17, 161 crores were deposited in bank accounts related to Majithia. Apart from this, according to the public prosecutor, 25% share of Bikram Singh Majithia’s wife Ganiv Kaur in Green Avenue Jalandhar has been revealed.
