The blast killed at least five migrant laborers, with reports indicating 25 to 34 injuries.

Initial investigations suggest the blast originated in the manufacturing section, possibly due to materials like potash used in firecracker production. The factory, reportedly operated under contract by Rajkumar from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, and linked to a local political worker, lacked permission under the Explosives Rules, 2008. The exact cause is under investigation, with forensic teams involved, and authorities have ruled out a bomb blast, confirming it as a firecracker-related explosion.

Rescue operations, involving police, fire brigade, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), continued to clear rubble and search for missing individuals. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, including AIIMS Bathinda, with most reported to be out of critical condition. Punjab Minister Harpal Singh Cheema expressed condolences, emphasizing ongoing investigations and legal action against those responsible for safety lapses.
