The Punjab government had announced the Chief Minister Health Scheme in the budget for 2025-26. Which was formally announced today. The Chief Minister Health Scheme will start from October 2.
Under the Chief Minister Health Scheme, treatment of about 2000 different diseases will be cashless in all government and non-government hospitals of Punjab. The aim of this scheme is to provide treatment to every Punjabi. Apart from creating awareness by organizing camps for the scheme, the government will also prepare and distribute cards.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said in his address, ‘This scheme includes major hospitals in Punjab. People do not need to worry. Earlier people used to be stuck in the hassle of blue and yellow cards. Now through the health card, we have ensured that any resident of Punjab will be able to get treatment in all situations. This scheme will start from October 2.’ Now treatment up to Rs 10 lakh will be free in government and listed hospitals.
Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh said, ‘This scheme will prove to be a boon for the people of Punjab. After the implementation of this scheme, if any person has any health problem, then he will have to go to the hospital with his Aadhaar card and he will be treated with it.Under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme, a health card will be made available to the people, through which free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh can be done in all hospitals in Punjab. This scheme will also include those people who come under the Ayushman Yojana of the Central Government. They will get an additional top-up cover of Rs 5 lakh from the state government.
This scheme of the state government will be for every section of the society, including government employees, pensioners, farmers, businessmen and the common people. Cashless treatment worth Rs 10 lakh will be available through this card.
