DC vs RR IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals tied with Rajasthan Royals (Delhi Capitals win Super Over by 2 wickets)

While chasing the target of 189 runs, Rajasthan’s team could only score 188 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. After this, the first super over of this season was played in which Delhi won with 2 balls remaining.

The winning shot of the match was hit by Tristan Stubbs. He gave his team victory by hitting a six over mid-wicket on Sandeep Sharma’s ball. Earlier, Rajasthan’s team could score only 11 runs in 5 balls in the Super Over. Rajasthan lost two wickets in 5 balls.

DC vs RR IPL 2025: In the super over, Shimron Hetmyer (06) and Riyan Parag (04) came out to bat for the Royals while Mitchell Starc was bowling. Hetmyer and Parag hit fours but Parag was run out on a free hit. Yashasvi Jaiswal (00) was also run out after this, giving Delhi a target of 12 runs.

Lokesh Rahul (07 not out) and Tristan Stubbs (06 not out) came out to bat for Delhi while the Royals handed the ball to Sandeep Sharma. Rahul took two runs on the first ball and then hit a four on the next ball. Stubbs hit a six on the fourth ball to give the team victory.

Earlier, chasing Delhi’s target of 189 runs, the Royals could only score 188 runs for four wickets despite half-centuries from Nitish Rana (51 runs, 28 balls, six fours, two sixes) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (51 runs, 37 balls, four sixes, three fours).

The Royals were once in a very strong position with 112 runs for one wicket in the 14th over, but Delhi’s team managed to make a comeback due to the excellent performance of the bowlers led by Starc (one wicket for 36 runs).

Delhi had scored 188 runs for five wickets. For the host team, opener Abhishek Porel scored the highest 49 runs. He shared a 63-run partnership for the third wicket with Lokesh Rahul (38). Captain Axar Patel finally scored 34 runs in 14 balls with four fours and two sixes, while Tristan Stubbs scored an unbeaten 34 runs in 18 balls with two fours and as many sixes, taking the team’s score close to 190 runs.

Chasing the target, Royals got off to a great start with Jaiswal and captain Sanju Samson (31) adding 63 runs without losing a wicket in the power play. However, Samson had to retire hurt after this due to injury. Akshar took his first wicket of the current season in the fifth match by bowling Riyan Parag (08).

Nitish Rana completed the team’s century in the 12th over with a run off Mohit’s ball, while in the same over Jaiswal also scored a half-century in 34 balls with a run.

However, the pressure to increase the run rate was increasing and in this effort Jaiswal got caught by Starc at long off while trying to play a big shot off Kuldeep’s ball. Royals needed 73 runs to win in the last six overs.

Nitish hit a six and a four on consecutive balls of Kuldeep in the next over. Dhruv Jurel (26) completed the team’s 150 runs in the 18th over with a six off Mohit, while Nitish completed his half-century in 26 balls with a four in the same over.

Royals needed 31 runs to win in the last three overs. Starc tried to bring Delhi back by trapping Nitish LBW. Only eight runs were scored in the over. Jurel scored 14 runs with a six off Mohit in the next over. Royals needed nine runs in Starc’s last over but only eight runs were scored, taking the match into the super over.
