Delhi MCD Bypolls: BJP wins 7 out of 12 wards

SNPNEWS.IN(Gurmail Kamboj): After the Delhi assembly elections 2025, the by-elections for 12 wards (seats) of MCD (Municipal Council Delhi) in Delhi were held on 30 November. The results of which were announced today on 3 December.

According to the announced results, the outcome is being described as disappointing for the BJP, which rules both the Centre and Delhi Municipal Corporation. Out of these 12 wards, BJP councillors previously held 9 seats, but after the bypolls, their tally has come down to only 7.

Meanwhile, AAP has won 3 wards – the same number they held even before these by-elections. Congress opened its account by winning 1 seat, while one seat went to Mohammad Imran of the All India Forward Block.

The voter turnout in these by-elections was 38.51%, which is significantly lower than the 50.47% recorded in the main MCD elections of 2022.

These by-elections were necessitated because 11 councillors got elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly and 1 councillor was elected to the Lok Sabha in the 2025 elections.
