Several countries and organizations, including India, have extended aid following the disaster. The World Health Organization estimated that 12,000 people were directly affected. Direct Relief initiated a $50,000 emergency grant and began preparing medical supplies. However, limited funding and poor infrastructure have posed challenges to relief efforts in Afghanistan.

The earthquake on 4 September halted relief operations, causing further damage to already devastated structures, increasing the risk of landslides in mountainous areas, and leading to road closures.
