Haryana Police Senior Officer Commits Suicide, Police Investigation Ongoing, Reasons for Suicide Remain Unclear.
SNPNEWS.IN News Update by Gurmail Kamboj: On the morning of October 7, a shocking incident came to light from Haryana. At his residence (House No. 116) in Sector-11, Chandigarh, Haryana Police senior officer and ADGP Y.S. Pooran committed suicide by shooting himself with his service pistol. As soon as the news of the incident spread, an atmosphere of fear gripped the area. A large number of police administration officials began arriving at the ADGP’s residence.
The investigating officer has, for now, declined to answer questions related to the suicide. Some unverified sources are citing political pressure, work overload, and internal departmental issues as possible reasons for the suicide.
Y. Poorn Kumar was an officer of ADGP rank. He had been transferred on 29 September to Sunaria Jail in Rohtak. This is the same jail where Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim is serving his sentence in the case of sexual exploitation of sadhvis.
Y. Poorn Kumar’s wife, Aman P. Kumar, is also an IPS officer. She had gone on a Japan tour on 5 October with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and other officials. She is scheduled to return to India tomorrow evening.
