Haryana will get 9025 cusecs of water, Punjab will use only 3000 cusecs of water?

Some users are claiming through social media that Haryana has been allowed to use 9025 cusecs of water and Punjab only 3000 cusecs by BBMB. With these claims, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is being criticized. When SNPNEWS.IN find out the truth of this claim proved to be completely baseless.
The claim that Haryana will get 9,025 cusecs of water while Punjab will use only 3,000 cusecs is not entirely accurate based on recent reports. Here’s a clearer picture:
The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), which manages water distribution from the Bhakra-Nangal Dam, decided in a technical committee meeting on May 15, 2025, that for the water-sharing cycle starting May 21, 2025, Haryana would be allocated 10,300 cusecs, Punjab 17,000 cusecs, and Rajasthan 12,400 cusecs. However, Punjab has contested this, stating they agreed to release only 9,525 cusecs to Haryana, citing infrastructure limitations and their own water needs.
Punjab’s Water Resources Minister, Barinder Kumar Goyal, noted that Punjab requires at least 3,000 cusecs for its critical needs until May 30, 2025, with demand rising to 22,000 cusecs from June 1 for paddy transplantation.
The claim of Haryana receiving 9,025 cusecs while Punjab uses only 3,000 cusecs seems to stem from a misinterpretation or outdated information, possibly from social media posts. Punjab’s allocation is significantly higher than 3,000 cusecs, and they’ve emphasized not releasing additional water beyond what they deem feasible. The dispute remains unresolved, with Punjab accusing Haryana of escalating demands and Haryana claiming Punjab is withholding their rightful share.
