Afghan media claimed that former Pakistani cricketer and Prime Minister Imran Khan (who is in jail on corruption charges) was murdered in prison.
SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj)): 26 November 2025 Media outlets like Afghanistan Times have published reports about former Pakistani cricketer (1971-1992) and Prime Minister (2018-2022) Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated in Central Jail Rawalpindi (Adiala Jail) since August 2023.
According to Afghan media outlets, the former Prime Minister has been “mysteriously” killed in Central Jail Rawalpindi and his body has been taken out of the prison. According to media reports, Khan has been killed by inhuman torture.
Notably, Khan has more than 186 cases pending against him. These include the Toshakhana corruption case, the Al-Qadir Trust case (14 years in prison in January 2025) and the May 9 riots. He has been kept in solitary confinement, and his wife Bushra Bibi has also been sentenced to 7 years.

Imran Khan’s sisters Aleema Khan, Dr. Uzma and Nooreen Niazi have also been barred from meeting Imran, which has been going on for more than three weeks. This has further increased concerns. PTI has called it a ‘mischievous psychological operation’ (psy-op) and accused the Shehbaz Sharif government of treating Imran like a terrorist.
The news has angered supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Thousands of PTI activists gathered outside Adiala Jail today and demanded information about Imran Khan’s health and safety. They raised slogans of ‘Azadi’ and also tried to vandalize the jail. Police have deployed heavy force and set up check points to control the protest.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued an official statement saying that the news spread in the Afghan media is “fake”. They have requested the people to reject such “nonsense” news and trust official Pakistani sources.
Adiala Jail authorities have also issued a statement in this matter confirming that Imran Khan is safe and has been kept in solitary confinement. They said that such news is being spread to create internal instability, especially after Pakistan’s border tension with Afghanistan has increased. These news are being published to increase internal strife in Pakistan.
