India lost the first Test match against England by 5 wickets on the last day.
In the first innings, India scored 471-10 runs in the first innings thanks to the centuries of Gill (147), Pant (134), Jaiswal (101). India lost the last 7 wickets for reaching 430 to 471 runs.
In reply, England scored 465-10 runs thanks to the batsmen of OJ Pope (106), H Brook (99), Ben Duckett’s ( 62).
Ban Stokes took 66-4 and Jc Tongue took 86-4 wickets for England in the first innings. Indian bowlers Bumrah took 83-5 and P Krishna took 128-3 wickets.

In the second innings, India came out to bat with a lead of 6 runs, then India lost 3 wickets including captain Gill (8) and Jaiswal (4) who scored centuries in the first innings to reach a score of 92 runs.
After which Pant (118) and KL Rahul (137), who scored a century in the first innings, made a partnership of 195 runs.
After that, India’s middle and lower order batsmen collapsed like in the first innings. Due to which India was all out for 364. The Indian team lost 6 batsmen from 333 to 364 to add the last 31 runs.
England’s batsmen z Crawley (65) and Ben Duckett’s (149) added 188 runs for the first wicket while chasing 372 runs. JE Root (53)*, B Stokes (33) and JL Smith (44)* took England to victory.

Indian bowlers struggled for wickets in the second innings. P Krishna 92-2 and SN Thakur 51-2 tried unsuccessfully to keep England away from victory for a while.
