After this, a record of recovery of unaccounted cash was recorded in the government record book. The CJI was informed about the incident, after which the Collegium meeting first recommended sending him to Allahabad.

Justice Yashwant Verma was sent from Allahabad to the Delhi High Court in October 2021. Now, along with the recommendation to send him back, there is talk of an investigation and even impeachment proceedings against him. Some members of the Supreme Court Collegium expressed concern over this entire development and said that if Justice Yashwant Verma is simply transferred, it will tarnish the image of the judiciary.

People’s trust in the judicial system in the country may weaken. Some members of the Collegium suggested that Justice Yashwant Verma’s resignation should be sought. If he refuses, then the impeachment process should be initiated in Parliament to remove him.
