
England won the Lord’s Test to take a 2-1 lead in the 5-match Test series between India and England
England won the toss and elected to bat first in the third Test match at Lord’s. England added 387 runs thanks to the innings of their batsmen Joe Root (104), B Carse (56) and J Smith (51). Jasprit Bumrah (74-5), Nitish Kumar Reddy (62-2), Mohammad Siraj (85-2) took wickets for India.
India’s batsmen KL Rahul (100), Rishabh Pant (74) and Ravindra Jadeja (72) took the team to a score of 387 runs. The score of both the teams was equal in the first innings. After which the chances of the match being drawn increased. C Woakes (84-3), JC Archer (52-2) and Ben Stokes (62-2) took wickets for England in bowling.
England started the second innings from (00). They lost their entire team for only 192 runs. England batsmen Joe Root (40), B Stokes (33), H Brook (33) and Z Crawley (22) added runs. For the Indian team, Washington Sundar (22-4), Mohammad Siraj (31-2) and Jasprit Bumrah (38-2) dismissed the English batsmen.
England gave India a target of 193 runs to win. Chasing which, the Indian team lost 58-4 wickets in the last hour of the 4th day after playing 17.4 overs. On the 5th day, ENGLAND’s bowling attack pushed India to the back-foot with 3 more wickets in the first hour. India lost 7 batsmen in just 24.4 overs.
Ravindra Jadeja kept the Indian team alive till the last moment. He remained unbeaten on 61 runs off 181 balls. B Stokes (48-3), JC Archer (55-3), and BA Carse (30-2) took wickets for England. England won the match by 22 runs.
