A blast took place outside the house of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former cabinet minister Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

Special DGP Arpit Shukla informed that those who attacked the house of former cabinet minister and BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia have been arrested.

During the press conference, Arpit Shukla said that the Punjab Police team has traced the case within about 12 hours and arrested two accused. And the auto rickshaw has also been recovered. He said, “This was a big conspiracy, which was hatched by Pakistan’s ISI, in which Lares Bishnoi and gangster Shahzad Bhatti’s associate Zeeshan Akhtar were involved.

“Arpit Shukla said that along with this, he said that the Babbar Khalsa wire is also being investigated. He says that he is also in touch with the central government agencies.Manoranjan Kalia said that he was sleeping at home at night and the explosion took place at around 1:30 am.

DCP Manpreet Dhillon said that neither any shell nor any explosive material was found from the incident site. Forensic teams had also reached the spot to investigate the matter. Dhillon said that it will be clear only after the forensic team’s investigation as to which explosive material was used in the blast.After the blast, Jalandhar Police Commissioner, Dhanpreet Kaur, took stock of the situation.

Explaining the incident, Manoranjan Kalia said, “When the sound of the explosion was heard, the family was sleeping inside the house. At first we thought that the electricity transformer outside had burnt down.””After the explosion, there was a lot of vibration, which made me think that there might have been heavy thunder. I stayed inside and the driver knocked on the door of the house and told me about the explosion.”

“All the things were scattered. Then the gunman was sent to Jalandhar Police Station No. 3. Manoranjan Kalia raised questions about the law and order situation in the state.

He said, “The first responsibility of any government is to implement law and order. But in Punjab, the courage of those who intend to disturb peace and tranquility has increased so much that they have reached homes. He said that the police and forensic teams are investigating other aspects including CCTV.

A video is going viral on social media, which is being said to be of the night incident.In it, a battery rickshaw can be seen speeding past the house of entertainment Kalia.It is being suspected that the attackers came in this rickshaw.

Union Minister of State Ravneet Bittu posted a video on X showing the damage to Kalia’s house and wrote, “The grenade attack on the house of senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia is a direct attack on the peace, democracy and law and order of Punjab. This heinous act exposes the complete failure of the Punjab government and its inability to maintain security. Such cowardly acts of terrorism can not and will not be tolerated.” “I strongly condemn this attack. If Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann can not perform his duty, he should resign immediately,”

Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has also condemned the incident. She wrote on the X, “The grenade attack on the house of former minister and senior BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia is part of a dangerous conspiracy to destroy the peace of Punjab and incite communal unrest.” “Earlier too, these same forces have attacked a place of worship and vandalized the statues of Baba Saheb BR Ambedkar. She wrote, “The Shiromani Akali Dal condemns these incidents and appeals to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to perform his duty as Home Minister and restore the rule of law in Punjab or resign immediately.

Congress leader and former minister Pargat Singh also condemned the blast and wrote on the X, “I strongly condemn the grenade attack on the former minister and BJP leader. Law and order has collapsed in Punjab under Bhagwant Mann’s government.”

Addressing the Chief Minister of Punjab, he wrote, “Bhagwant Mann, you are not only failing as Chief Minister, as Home Minister you are creating complete havoc. What hope is there for the common people of Punjab?

BJP leader from Sunam constituency and Punjab Secretary Daman Thind Bajwa condemned the attack outside Kalia’s house in a press conference and questioned the law and order situation in the state,

Bajwa recalling the 3-year tenure of the state government and questioned on the ruling party, She said that this is not the first case when an attempt has been made to spread terror by carrying out such a blast.

In the last few months, Punjab police stations, religious places and political leaders have been continuously targeted, but due to the state government and administration being in deep sleep, the law and order situation is continuously deteriorating.

When and where did the attacks take place in the state?

In the last few months, there have been several blasts in three districts of Punjab, Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur, bordering the Indo-Pakistan border.
