Deputy Commissioner Appeal to Sangrur residents to switch off lights at 8:30 pm
Sangrur, May 6: Deputy Commissioner Sangrur (Additional Charge) Mr. T. Benith informed that in view of the instructions issued by the Government of India, as a practice to deal with any situation, a siren will sound at 8:30 pm tomorrow and there will be a blackout in the city.
He said that whenever such a siren sounds tomorrow or thereafter, the general public is expected to switch off the lights in their homes and also keep their inverters and generators off. During this time, street lights will also remain off. He appealed to the city residents to cooperate with the district administration in this and keep the lights off.
He said that the sirens are being played by the Civil Defence for practice, so that their functionality and sound can be checked. He said that there is no need to panic in any way during this time.

Apart from this, the lights of CCTV cameras, which turn on automatically when it gets dark, should also be turned off during this time, so that it appears completely dark in the city.
He said that during this time people should avoid going out of their homes and should not drive. During this time, people should stay in their homes.
