Nabha: Stolen Goods from Khanauri and Shambhu Borders Recovered from EO's House

Nabha (Punjab): Goods stolen from the Punjab-Haryana border during the farmers’ protest have been recovered from the official residence of the Executive Officer (EO) of Nabha Municipal Council.

SNPNEWS.IN (Gurmail Kamboj): On 19 March 2025, the Punjab government (AAP), with the help of police forces, cleared the farmers’ protest (Delhi Chalo March-2) that had been ongoing since 13 February 2024. After the clearance, a large amount of farmers’ belongings (tractors, trolleys, refrigerators, coolers, fans, generators, etc.) disappeared from the protest sites.

Later, farmer leaders recovered several tractor-trolleys and other items from the houses of AAP supporters in villages of the Ghannaur constituency. Apart from this, stolen goods were also recovered from the residences of several government officials.

In August 2025, 4 tyres and 1 trolley hook were recovered from the property of Pankaj Pappu, husband of the President of Nabha Municipal Council. After the recovery from the property linked to the husband of the Municipal Council President, farmer organizations got an FIR registered in connection with the theft, and farmer leaders have been continuously demanding a proper investigation.

On 19 November 2025, with the help of a JCB machine, allegedly stolen items (parts of trolleys and other materials) buried underground were dug out and recovered from the official government residence (quarters) of Nabha Municipal Council Executive Officer Gurcharan Singh.

This recovery took place in the presence of police and farmer leaders, once again bringing the issue of goods stolen from Khanauri border into the spotlight.

Farmers had been holding a protest (dharna) outside the EO’s residence suspecting that the stolen goods were hidden there. Farmer leader Gamdur Singh called the return of the items, with the cooperation of the Punjab government, a victory for the farmers’ movement.

EO Gurcharan Singh stated that he does not live in this government residence because his village is very close to Nabha. In his absence, the municipal council’s machinery is usually parked there. He said he had no objection to the digging in the courtyard to satisfy the farmers.

This incident has once again intensified the discussion around the goods stolen from Khanauri and Shambhu borders during the farmers’ agitation.
