From the very early days of U.S. President Donald Trump’s second term, large-scale grassroots protests have been taking place under the banner of “NO KINGS” against his policies and decisions.
SNPNEWS.IN NEWS (Gurmail Kamboj): Ever since the beginning of Donald Trump’s second presidential term in the United States, massive grassroots protests are being organized against his policies and decisions. Under the banner of “No Kings Christmas”, a group of social activists is preparing to hold a huge protest rally on 25 December (Christmas Day) against Trump’s policies, attacks on free speech, threats to deport America (immigrant) citizens, challenges to the courts, and the influence of billionaires like Elon Musk on the government and administration. The rally is planned at ndependence Mall or Center City area (exact location not yet finalized).
During this protest, 3–4 lakh (300,000–400,000) protesters are expected to gather at various locations across the country. The organizers have called it a “Peaceful Mass Movement”, in which labor unions and immigrants are expected to play a major role.
Various non-governmental organizations in the United States such as Indivisible, 550501 Movement, ACLU, MoveOn, SEIU, AFT, CWA, DSA, OWCRAA, Human Rights, LGBTQ+ and reproductive rights), Third Act Movement, United We Dream and Working Families Power, Common Defense, League of Conservation Voters, Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) and many others have already organized three major peaceful protests after Trump’s inauguration in which millions of people participated. These organizations have ensured non-violent and peaceful protests and have set a target of mobilizing 3.5% of Americans to bring about change.

President Donald Trump defeated Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the November 2024 elections to win a second term. After taking oath as President on 20 January, he immediately started making policies under the slogan “America First”. From the beginning, Trump’s focus has been on changes in immigration policy, economic reforms, foreign policy and social issues, mass deportations, and the “One Big Beautiful Bill”, due to which a large section of the population has turned against the President’s policies. Till now (10 December 2025), Trump has issued 217 executive orders, the highest number after Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The activists have received huge support through TikTok, Reddit, X etc. The first small event was organized on 17 February 2025 as “No Kings on Presidents’ Day”, followed by a large-scale rally on 19 April.
On 14 June 2025 (No Kings Day), the flagship event was held at 2,100 locations across the country on Trump’s birthday and coinciding with the Army parade, in which 4–6 million people gathered against the President.
On 4 July 2025, a special program was organized under the banner of “Free America Weekend” on Independence Day.
18 October 2025 (No Kings 2.0) was organized at 2,700 locations, in which more than 7 million people participated.
On 20 December, a weekly protest (an event linked with a Women’s March) is also schedule.
These organizations are now preparing to hold a major event on 25 December.
