Punjab Police is preparing to bring back associates of Amritpal Singh from Dibrugarh Jail in Assam and formally arrest them in the Ajnala Police Station attack case.

Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the accused are being brought back to Punjab.

Punjab Police has prepared to bring back 7 associates of ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief and MP from Khandur Sahib Amritpal Singh from Dibrugarh Jail in Assam to Punjab and formally arrest them in the Ajnala Police Station attack case so that these accused can be punished as per the law. Giving information in this regard, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the accused who are being brought back to Punjab include Basant Singh resident of village Daulatpura Ucha district Moga, Bhagwant Singh alias Pradhan Bajeke village Bajeke district Moga, Gurmeet Singh Gill alias Gurmeet Bukkanwala village Bukkanwala, district Moga, Kalsijit Singh Punjabi West, Kalsijit Singh Punjabi West, Baljit Singh resident of Delhi. Gurinderpal Singh Aujla alias Guri Aujla Phagwara, Harjit Singh alias Chacha village Jallupur Khera district Amritsar, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal alias Kulwant Singh village Roke Kalan district Moga. All these accused have been in custody under the National Security Act (NSA) in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam for the last two years.

Top officials of Punjab Police reached Dibrugarh.

The DGP said a high-level police team led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Harinder Singh Gill has been sent to Dibrugarh jail to complete the process of arresting the seven accused after completion of their NSA detention period.

Punjab Police will produce these accused in Dibrugarh court to obtain transit remand so that they can be brought back to Punjab at the earliest to face trial in the police station attack case

DIG Border Range Satinder Singh and SSP Amritsar Rural Maninder Singh said that the process of bringing back seven of the ten detainees to Punjab to face trial in various cases registered across the state will begin from Monday.They said that formal arrest of all the seven accused will be made in FIR No. 39/23 registered at Ajnala police station to start the investigation process in this case.
