
Fire in private bus from Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer to Jodhpur kills 20, 16 seriously injured.
SNPNEWS.IN News Update (Gurmail Kamboj): Today, a private AC bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur in Rajasthan caught fire. The incident occurred on August 14 around 3-4 PM, approximately 20 kilometers before Jodhpur near Thaiyat Ghunle village on NH-62.
According to available information, the accident happened due to a short circuit. The fire started from the rear of the bus and engulfed the entire vehicle within moments. Out of the 57 passengers on board, 19 died at the scene, while one 79-year-old elderly man, Hussain Khan, passed away during treatment at Jodhpur Hospital. In this incident, 15 passengers suffered severe burns while trying to escape the fire, with several sustaining up to 70% burns.
Soldiers from the nearby army camp (Thaiyat Military Station), the fire brigade, and villagers immediately began rescue operations. The injured were rushed to hospitals in three ambulances. They were first admitted to Jawahar Hospital (Jaisalmer) and then the seriously injured were referred to Jodhpur.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma reached the incident site, assessed the situation, and expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims. He assured free treatment for the injured and support for the families of the deceased.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also expressed grief over the incident and prayed for minimal losses.
After the accident, a several-kilometer-long traffic jam formed on NH-62. The police administration took custody of the bodies of the deceased and sent them for postmortem. The process of DNA sampling has been initiated for identifying the deceased.
