Ramdev's Company Warehouse Raided: 1260 Liters of Refined, Soybean, and Palm Oil Seized

The company of yoga guru Baba Ramdev (Ram Kishan Yadav), who built a ₹50,000 crore business empire from a yoga teacher, is once again in the spotlight.

SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj): Yoga guru and religious leader Baba Ramdev (Ram Kishan Yadav) founded Patanjali Ayurved Limited in 2006. The company was established by Baba Ramdev and his associate Acharya Balkrishna, with its headquarters in Haridwar (Uttarakhand) and registered office in New Delhi. The company’s objective is to promote Ayurvedic products, food items, cosmetics, and yoga-related health.

In 2011, the anti-corruption movement with Anna Hazare made Ramdev famous across the country. Before the 2014 elections, Ramdev openly supported the BJP and Narendra Modi, after which, during the 2014 BJP government, Patanjali’s product sales saw a massive surge. People began adopting Patanjali as a “Swadeshi” brand. By 2014, Ramdev’s company had an annual turnover of ₹1,000–1,100 crore, which is expected to reach ₹50,000 crore by 2025.

Under Patanjali Ayurved Limited (2006), Patanjali Foods Limited (formerly Ruchi Soya, 1986; acquired in 2019), Magma General Insurance Limited (acquired in 2025), Patanjali Wellness Limited, Patanjali Lifestyle Limited, and Patanjali Medicine Limited (planned IPO in 2027), Ramdev Baba Solvent Limited, and Patanjali Yogpeeth and Divya Yog Mandir Trust, Baba Ramdev has built a ₹50,000 crore business empire. However, his companies often remain embroiled in controversies.

Latest Controversy: On 28 October 2025, a raid was conducted at Patanjali’s Carrying and Forwarding (C&F) warehouse Tejasvi Traders near Nausarh in Gorakhpur. Here, 1260 liters of oil (refined, soybean, and palm oil) — extracted from broken tins and filled into plastic drums — was seized. Additionally, 3600 water bottles were sealed due to lack of license in the warehouse.According to FSDA officials, the oil was stored in damaged packaging, violating food safety regulations. This oil is being considered fake or harmful to humans, as it could be dangerous for customers. Moreover, lab tests found Patanjali’s oil sample to be of substandard quality.

The department has asked Patanjali to respond within one month. If a satisfactory reply is not received, legal action will be initiated. This action was taken to enforce food safety rules. Patanjali has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.

In previous years too, several incidents related to Patanjali have come to light where its products failed to meet standards. Apart from Ramdev’s claims of making a COVID-19 medicine, several unsubstantiated claims were made that he could not clarify. The sale of many of his company’s products was banned by several state governments and FSSAI. His company’s advertisements have often been mired in controversy, leading to fines and reprimands from the Hon’ble Supreme Court and courts in various states.
