Russia launches its largest airstrike on Ukraine to date, killing 14 people

After the tension and war between Russia & Ukraine that began on 24 February 2022, Russia launched its largest air attack on Ukraine on 24 June 2025.

According to sources, 407 suicide drones, 38 cruise missiles and 6 ballistic missiles were used in this attack. At least 14 civilians were killed in this attack, of which 9 died in Kiev. This attack was part of Russia’s latest bombing campaign.

Which increased the pressure on Ukraine’s air defense system and further intensified the conflict. After this attack, hopes for peace talks between the two countries were also reduced.

● Russia’s losses due to the war and international sanctions are estimated at 1.3 trillion US dollars.

● The exact losses suffered by the Russian army cannot be estimated, but according to various reports, the Russian army has lost more than 100,000 soldiers in this war.

● Russia has occupied 4168 square kilometers of Ukraine has taken over, for which its army has had to pay a heavy price.

● The exact number of Russian civilian casualties during the war has not been accurately estimated.

Statement from the Ukrainian Air Force-:

The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed in an official statement on June 29, 2025, that one of its F-16 jets was lost and the pilot was killed while responding to a major Russian airstrike.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force statement, the pilot “Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Ustymenko” destroyed seven air targets, but while engaging the eighth target, the plane was damaged and began to lose altitude. The pilot tried to fly the plane away from residential areas, but was unable to eject and died.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia attacked with 477 drones and 60 missiles, of which 211 drones and 38 missiles were destroyed.

President Zelensky ordered an investigation into the incident and spoke of strengthening the country’s air defenses.
