
The names of Harmandeep and Bhupinder Singh were in the race for the presidency of the Municipal Council Sangrur.
It had been more than 4 months since the Sangrur Municipal Council elections were held, and during this time there was a constant wait for the appointment of the new Municipal Council President.
Recently, some independent candidates who were victorious in the municipal council elections, created a ruckus at the Sangrur municipal council office and accused the officials of not electing the president of the municipal council.
Since yesterday, there was a lot of excitement in the houses of the Sangrur Municipal Council and the members aspiring for the presidency. Meanwhile, the names of two leaders of the ruling party were the subject of discussion.
In the 29-member Municipal Council of Sangrur, AAP has 12 members from Congress, 9 from BJP, 5 from Akali Dal and 3 from Akali Dal. It is worth mentioning here that out of 29, 10 members had won the election as independents. Out of which 5 are supporting the ruling party.
Due to which AAP was 2 behind the figure of 16 required for the presidency. It is worth mentioning here that in this election, 2 votes of MLAs from Sangrur and Sunam are also counted.
