According to Agro Input Dealers, after the passage of Seed Amendment Bill 2025, 2 to 3 lakh people will be directly affected and their jobs and businesses will be at risk.
Sunam Udham Singh Wala 4 August 2025: A delegation of Agro Input Dealers Punjab, led by Ishwar Garg met Shri Aman Arora Ji (Cabinet Minister Punjab Government and Punjab Pradesh President AAP) at his residence Sunam on 3 August. The purpose of this meeting with the Minister Ji was to apprise Dealer’s about the problems arising in the Seed Amendment Bill 2025 being brought by the Punjab Government and to submit a memorandum.
Seed dealer friends explained in detail that dealers are authorized sellers with licenses from the Agriculture Department created by the government and the Agriculture Department gives permission to any company to store and sell in Punjab, the dealer starts work after registering its permission letter. All dealers purchase goods with a valid bill and sell them to the farmer only through a valid bill.
Main demands of Punjab Agro Input Dealers Brothers through a demand letter given to Aman Arora ji-:
1. There should be no provision for punishment in this bill.
2. Seed should be excluded from the non-bailable category from this bill.
3. Police intervention should not be added in the bill. Police intervention will give strength to bribery and black marketing.
On this occasion, the issue of fertilizer tagging and the problem of POS machines was also raised. According to agro input dealers, after the passage of the Seed Amendment Bill 2025, 2 to 3 lakh people will be directly affected and their jobs and businesses will be at risk.
After listening to the problems of agro input dealers in detail, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora assured that no seed dealer will be allowed to be harassed and they have no need to fear. Aman Arora said that he will soon talk to the cabinet and a suitable solution to this issue will be found.
