Staff Selection Commission (SSC) controversy On July 31, agitating candidates and coaching staff gathered in Delhi under the “Delhi Chalo” movement demanding reforms in exam management systems and withdrawal of outsourced services.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has been facing constant controversies in recent years. The exams, which began on July 24, 2025 and concluded on August 1, have been marred by logistical and administrative lapses at several centres. Candidates have alleged mismanagement, repeated cancellations and technical failures. Due to which students are demanding accountability from the SSC and the Personnel Ministry.
● Controversy over the cut-off list during 2023 Some candidates were accusing the SSC of a scam while others are pointing to possible technical issues or even corruption within the process.
● The 2024 exam witnessed controversy after allegations of dishonesty and selection of favourite candidates and inclusion of names of candidates belonging to certain exam centres in the cut-off list. Once again, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) management has come under question.
According to candidates, several exam shifts were either cancelled or stopped abruptly. At Pawan Ganga Educational Centre 2, the exams from July 24 to 26 were cancelled due to “administrative reasons”. Similarly, the first shift at Educasa International, Hubli on July 24 was stopped due to a technical glitch.
While some of the cancelled shifts have been rescheduled from July 28, many candidates said they did not receive any timely information and some alleged that they got stranded on the way after travelling a long distance and failed to reach the exam centre.
A “Delhi Chalo” protest was called on July 31, in which aggrieved candidates and coaching staff reached Delhi in large numbers to demand reforms in the examination management systems and withdrawal of outsourced services. During which the aggrieved candidates and coaching staff were lathicharged by the police and arrested.
On talking to some of the aggrieved candidates and coaching staff, they said that they are only demanding from the government to conduct the examination in a fair manner and to remove the shortcomings found in the examination centres. Apart from this, they said that they have been demanding the timely release of the results of the examinations conducted by SSC for a long time.
The SSC and the Personnel Ministry are not paying attention to any of their demands, due to which they were forced to announce the agitation. Where police brutality was seen. Many have suffered serious injuries during the police lathicharge. After which many have been arrested.
