The new tariff, combined with the previously set 25% tariff, will result in a total of 50% (25% + 25%). According to an executive order signed by Trump, the additional tariff will take effect after 21 days.
The White House’s executive order stated that “the Indian government is currently importing Russian oil, directly or indirectly.” Based on this, the U.S. has decided to impose an additional 25% tariff on all products imported from India.Just two days ago, India had clearly told the U.S. and the European Union in Washington regarding the issue of purchasing oil from Russia: “When you haven’t stopped importing oil and gas from Russia yourselves, why should we?”
