Vigilance Bureau Recovers Rs 24.6 Lakh From Raikot SDM Office

Vigilance raided Raikot SDM Office regarding bribery case. During which, an amount of more than 24 lakhs was recovered.

SNPNEWS.IN Raikot Bribery Case Update: Late on Thursday night, the Vigilance raided the office of SDM Gurbir Singh Kohli in Raikot, Ludhiana. During this, cash worth ₹24.06 lakh was recovered from the office. SDM Gurbir Singh Kohli fled the scene, while his steno Jatinder Singh was taken into custody by the Vigilance.

MLA Hakam Singh Thekedar’s team was the first to raid, and when the controversy escalated, the Vigilance was called from Ludhiana. The team led by DSP Shivchand did not allow the media or intelligence department employees to enter during the nearly two-hour operation. After questioning the steno Jatinder Singh, the process of registering a case against the SDM was initiated.

The matter began with a case filed by Baldev Singh against his son Harpreet Singh and niece Sandeep Kaur for annulling the mutt. The first hearing of this case was held on May 29, and on the second hearing on Thursday, the SDM dismissed Baldev Singh’s case. It is being discussed that Harpreet Singh and Sandeep Kaur had given a bribe of ₹25 lakh, on the basis of which the Vigilance took this action. After the raid, the farmer organizations started raising slogans against the SDM’s absconding.

Details of Vigilance Action

Late on Thursday (May 29, 2025) night, Vigilance raided the office of SDM Gurbir Singh Kohli in Raikot, Ludhiana. During this, cash worth Rs 24.06 lakh was recovered. SDM Gurbir Singh Kohli fled from the spot, while his steno Jatinder Singh was taken into custody by Vigilance.

Start: Vigilance action started under the leadership of MLA Hakam Singh Thekedar. Later, a vigilance team was called from Ludhiana.

Time and leadership: The team led by DSP Shivchand conducted an action for about 2 hours. Media and intelligence department employees were not allowed to enter.

Reason: This action was related to a mutation case filed by Baldev Singh against his son Harpreet Singh and niece Sandeep Kaur. It is being discussed that a bribe of Rs 25 lakh was given by Harpreet Singh and Sandeep Kaur, on the information of which the Vigilance raided.

Results: After questioning Steno Jatinder Singh, the process of registering a case against the SDM began. Farmer organizations raised slogans when the SDM absconded.
