After football and cricket, tennis’s big tournament Wimbledon also continues to witness upheavals

Last year’s women’s singles champion Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic caused a sensation when she was knocked out in the third round of Wimbledon yesterday. Barbora was defeated by American number ten Emma Navarro 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Krejcikova could not contain the grief of the early defeat and burst into tears on the court. Speaking to reporters later, the 29-year-old said, “I can only say that the first half of the match I was really enjoying myself on the court and feeling pretty good, but then suddenly all my energy went out of control and I couldn’t get it back.”

Barbora added, “At first, I thought it was because of the food, that I had eaten too quickly. So I started eating bananas and all the sweet things, but I wasn’t really feeling any better, in fact, I was feeling worse the more time I spent on the court.
