
Women’s World Cup 2025: India’s girls secure their place in the semi-finals after Australia, England and South Africa
SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj): Women’s World Cup 2025 India defeated New Zealand by 53 runs at the DY Patil Stadium on Thursday, October 24, 2025 to secure a place in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s One-Day World Cup 2025. With this victory, India got two points and the team remained at the fourth position in the points table.
India has played six matches in the tournament. The team won three and lost three. With six points, India became the fourth team to qualify for the semi-finals. Earlier, Australia, England and South Africa had already secured their places in the top four. This defeat ended New Zealand’s chances of reaching the semi-finals.
Australia is at the top of the points table with 11 points. South Africa is at the second place with 10 points. England is at the third place with nine points. Pakistan is at the bottom with two points and is also out of the semi-final race. New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have also been eliminated.

New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai ground. Taking advantage of which, Indian batsmen P. Rawal (134-122), S. Mandhana (95-109) and J. Rodrigues (55-76)* took the team to 340-3 runs in 49 overs according to the DLS method.
New Zealand’s S.Bates, R. Mair and A. Kerr got 1 wicket each.
Chasing a big target, New Zealand had a very poor start. After which G. Pillmmer (25-30), A. Kerr (53-45), B. Haliday (84-81) and I. Gaze (51-65)* helped the team to reach 271 runs in 44 overs for the loss of 8 wickets (DLS). Thus, the New Zealand team fell 53 runs behind the target of 224 runs in 44 overs according to the DLS method.
Indian bowlers R. Singh, K. Goud managed to take 2-2 wickets and the rest of the bowlers managed to take 1-1 wicket.
