Terrorists opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon. One tourist died in the attack.

According to media reports, the terrorists asked the tourist for his name and then shot him in the head and fled while firing.

According to officials, the incident took place in Baisaran Valley, in which 8 people are injured. Some of them are locals as well. However, according to news agency PTI, the number of injured is 12.

Security forces have cordoned off the area. The area is being monitored through helicopters. The injured are being treated in the hospital.

News agency ANI has reported that PM Modi has spoken to Home Minister Amit Shah over phone from Saudi Arabia regarding the incident. He has asked Shah to visit the spot.

After talking to the PM, Shah has called an emergency meeting in Delhi. Shah had visited Jammu and Kashmir from 6 to 8 April.

Here, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi and inquired about the situation.

There were two terrorist attacks at night. The first incident was at an open tourist camp near Pahalgam in Anantnag. Here the terrorists shot a tourist couple from Jaipur (Rajasthan). After some time, at around 10.30 pm in Hirpora, Shopian, the terrorists shot local BJP leader Aijaz Ahmed Sheikh. Aijaz Ahmed was taken to the hospital and he died.

Both the attacks in Jammu and Kashmir took place when the Lok Sabha elections were being held here for the first time after the removal of Article 370.

Pahalgam route is important for Amarnath Yatra

Amarnath Yatra is to start from 3rd July and will continue till 9th ​​August. Pahalgam route is important for the Yatra. It takes 3 days to reach the cave from this route, but this route is easy. There is no steep climb in the Yatra. The first stop from Pahalgam is Chandanwadi. It is 16 km away from the base camp.

The climb starts from here.After climbing for three kms, the yatra reaches Pissu Top. From here, the yatra reaches Sheshnag by evening on foot. This journey is about 9 kms. The next day, the yatras go to Panchtarni from Sheshnag. This is about 14 kms from Sheshnag. The cave is only 6 kms from Panchtarni.
