Pahalgam attack: Government failed in security, Rahul said ‘We will support every action of the Centre, Pakistan sent notice to suspend Indus Water Treaty.

The central government on Thursday admitted that there was a security lapse in the Pahalgam attack.

After the all-party meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that officials of the IB and Home Ministry informed the opposition leaders about the security lapse in the meeting.

During this, the opposition said that they are with the government. Opposition MPs demanded the destruction of terrorist camps. They said that the government should take strict steps against terrorism.

After the all-party meeting, Rahul Gandhi said that the government has full support for every action. The all-party meeting lasted for two hours.

In the meeting, two minutes of silence was observed for the peace of the souls of those killed in the Pahalgam attack.

On April 22, terrorists killed 26 tourists in Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam. One of them was a Nepali citizen. More than 10 people were injured.

We said that the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was necessary in this meeting because he will take the final decision. The ministers said that we will tell the PM about the details of today’s meeting. We said that telling is one thing, listening to him yourself and taking a decision is another thing.

We said that there is three-tier security there, then how did the security lapse happen? One thousand people had reached there.

This is a security failure and negligence of the intelligence. There was a terrorist attack, the government had to take swift and quick action, which was not taken. All the leaders together said that whatever decision the government takes in the interest of the country, we are with it. We are all united on this issue.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said after the meeting

All the leaders unanimously said that we are with the decision of CCS (Cabinet Committee on Security). All the leaders said that they will support the decisions taken by the government in future.

He said that we made it clear that the government’s policy towards terrorism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is zero tolerance. Leaders of all parties have said that they will support the decisions taken by the government now and in the future.

After attending the all-party meeting, Rahul Gandhi said- Everyone condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The opposition has given full support to the government to take any action. Rahul Gandhi will go to Anantnag in Kashmir on Friday. He will meet the people injured in the attack there.

After attending the all-party meeting in Srinagar,

Democratic Progressive Azad Party president Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the whole country and the people of Jammu and Kashmir stand in support of those who lost their loved ones in the Pahalgam attack. All Hindus and Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir are united against terrorism.

What happened on 24th April in brief

Realising the gravity of this terror attack, the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs (CCS) decided on the following measures

● The Indus Water Treaty of 1960 will be suspended with immediate effect, until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably renounces its support for cross-border terrorism.

● Integrated Checkpost Attari will be closed with immediate effect. Those who have crossed the border with legitimate means can return through that route before 1 May 2025.

● Pakistani nationals will not be allowed to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme. Any SPES visa issued to Pakistani nationals in the past will be deemed to have been cancelled. Any Pakistani national currently present in India under a SPES visa has 48 hours to leave India.

● Defence, military, naval and air advisers at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi are declared persona non grata. They have a week to leave India.

● India will withdraw its Defence, Naval and Air Advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. These posts will be deemed abolished in the respective High Commissions.

After the decisions taken by India in CCS meeting, Pakistan took the following steps in panic

● Pakistan threatened to end the Shimla Agreement.

● Pakistan closed Wahga border.

● All Indians, except religious travelers, were asked to leave Pakistan within 48 hours.

● India will have only 30 diplomats in Pakistan.

● Pakistan also canceled SAARC visa.

● Pakistan’s airspace closed for Indian airlines.

Pakistan said- If Indus water is stopped then it will be an act of war

Earlier, a meeting of the National Security Committee (NCS) was held in Islamabad. In this, Pakistan suspended all bilateral agreements between the two countries. This also includes the Shimla Agreement of 1972.

Pakistan said that if India stops the Indus Water Treaty, it will be treated as an act of war. Pakistan said, any threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty and security will be responded to strongly in all areas. We condemn any terrorist activity.

■ Pakistan has issued a notification to test a surface-to-surface missile along its coastline within its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) off Karachi coast on April 24-25.

Terrorist Attack In Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, Tourist Killed, 12 Injured

■ Fearing retaliation from India, the Pakistani Air Force spent Wednesday night in a state of fear. 18 fighter jets have been sent from Karachi Airbase to Air Force stations on the border with India.

■ The central government has banned the Pakistan government’s X handle in India. At the same time, the US State Department has issued an advisory for its citizens. They have been advised not to visit Jammu and Kashmir.
