Punjab News a joint operation by Sangrur Police and Excise Department, 2240 liters of illegal ethanol has been seized.

During this, two accused have also been arrested. Finance and Excise Minister Harpal Singh Cheema termed it a big success and said that a big tragedy has been averted by recovering such a large amount of ethanol. Ten thousand bottles of illegal liquor could have been made from this ethanol.

Under the campaign against drug abuse, District Sangrur Police, Special Operation Group Excise took joint action and seized 2240 liters of illegally stolen ethanol. During this, the police arrested two accused.
Describing it as a big success of Sangrur Police, Finance and Excise Minister Harpal Singh Cheema while talking to journalists here said that by recovering such a large quantity of ethanol, the police and the Excise Department have prevented a major tragedy from happening.
This ethanol could have been used to make illegal liquor. He claimed that about ten thousand bottles of illegal liquor can be prepared from two thousand liters of ethanol. Consuming it can even kill someone.
200 liters of ethanol recovered from a Bolero vehicle
Finance and Excise Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that based on a secret information, a police team led by Excise Officer Sarupinder Singh Sandhu and DSP Dr. Rupinder Kaur Bajwa stopped a Bolero vehicle near village Dhandoli Khurd on Sangrur-Didba highway and searched it.
During the search, 200 liters of ethanol was recovered from the drum kept in the vehicle. Police arrested the driver Shah Mohammad resident of Sawlana Police Station Pratappur District Meerut Uttar Pradesh and registered a case against him under the Excise Act.
Police raided the warehouse
The police interrogated the accused and inquired about the storage of ethanol, after which the police raided an illegal open warehouse on Kularan-Gagadpur Road and recovered 2040 liters of ethanol (ENA) stored in 11 drums.
From here the police arrested Arman Mohammad, resident of Chaygid police station Dagrua district Purnia Bihar.
