The Air India flight, a Boeing Dreamliner, was bound for London and the incident took place shortly after takeoff at the Ahmedabad airport

On 12 June 2025, an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London (Gatwick) crashed in the Meghani Nagar area near Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was carrying 242 passengers, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu is also arriving in Ahmedabad from Vijayawada. The DGCA has sent a team from Delhi to Ahmedabad for investigation. The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing, and the Ahmedabad airport has been temporarily closed.
