Amritpal Singh Mehro, mastermind of Bhabhi Kamal Kaur murder

Amritpal Singh Mehro further warned other content creators that they could face similar consequences if they continued posting inappropriate material online.

Amritpal Singh Mehro, a Nihang Sikh leader, has been identified as the mastermind behind the murder of Punjabi social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi. Bathinda Police arrested two of his accomplices, Jaspreet Singh Mehro and Nimratjit Singh Harike, in connection with the crime.

According to SSP Amneet Kondal, Mehro lured Kaur to Bathinda under the pretense of a car promotion event, where she was strangled to death by the trio. Her body was then placed in her own car and parked near Adesh Medical University. Mehro had previously warned Kaur over her allegedly obscene social media content, which he claimed insulted Sikh history and culture. Investigations are ongoing to further establish the motives and circumstances.

Kanchan Kumari, known as Kamal Kaur or Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, was a popular Punjabi social media influencer from Ludhiana, Punjab, with over 3.83 lakh Instagram followers and 2.36 lakh YouTube subscribers on her channel, Funny Bhabhi TV.

Born around 1990-1995, she was in her early to mid-30s at the time of her death. She lived with her mother, two brothers, and two sisters in Lachman Colony, Ludhiana.

Kaur was known for her bold and humorous Instagram Reels and YouTube vlogs, which often sparked controversy due to their explicit language and provocative content, drawing both a loyal fanbase and criticism.

In October 2024, she received death threats from Canada-based Khalistani extremist Arsh Dalla, who criticized her content as “inappropriate” and threatened harm to her family unless she removed her videos.

Kaur was found dead on June 11, 2025, in a parked car near Adesh Medical University in Bathinda, Punjab. Police suspect she was murdered elsewhere, with her body dumped in the car, which had fake registration plates. She had left home on June 9, 2025, for a promotional event in Bathinda and lost contact with her family thereafter.

Her last Instagram post, three days before her death, featured a cryptic caption: “No emotion, no love, no f*ck. Bachia hoya taan bas shakk shakk shakk (what’s left is just doubt, doubt and doubt).”

The investigation, led by Bathinda Police, points to Amritpal Singh Mehro, a Nihang Sikh leader, as the mastermind, with two accomplices, Jaspreet Singh Mehro and Nimratjit Singh Harike, arrested. The motive is linked to Mehro’s objections to Kaur’s content, which he deemed offensive to Sikh culture. The case remains under investigation, with forensic analysis and CCTV footage being examined to uncover further details.
