The second match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England is being played at Edgbaston, England. After coming close to winning the first match and losing at the last moment, India’s young team reached Edgbaston for the second Test match. India suffered a big setback before the match when senior Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the match due to injury.
England won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Indian team scored a huge score of 587 in 151 overs thanks to captain Gill’s 269, Jadeja’s 89, Jaiswal’s 87 and Washington Sundar’s 42 runs. England’s bowler Shoaib Bashir took 3 wickets, CR Woakes and JC Tongue took 2 wickets each.
England’s team started the batting very badly. They lost 25 runs and 3 batsmen in the last hour of the second day. England was playing at 80-3 by the end of the second day’s play.
The third day started very badly for the England team, they lost 2 more batsmen in 4 runs. After which JL Smith 184* and H Brook 158 together made a partnership of 303 runs for England, thanks to which the threat of Follow On was averted from the England team.
England were looking strong at 387 for 5. Meanwhile, India’s bowler Akash Deep bowled H Brook and gave England a big blow. After which Mohammed Siraj dismissed the remaining England batsmen for just 20 runs, giving England and India a strong lead of 180 runs. For India, Mohammed Siraj dismissed 6 and Akash Deep dismissed 4 batsmen.
During the last hour of the third day, the Indian team is playing at 64-1 till the end of the third day’s play. India will come out on the field to play with the hope of taking the lead of 244 runs to close to 450 on the 4th day.
