
The death toll due to floods in Texas, the second largest state in the US in terms of population and area, has risen to 24. At the same time, relief and rescue operations are underway to locate more than 25 children missing from a summer camp ‘Camp Mystic’.
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) said, “There were more than 700 children at the camp and most were evacuated to higher ground, where they were waiting for rescue without power.”

A state emergency has been declared in several areas of Texas. Many roads are closed due to flooding and phone lines are also down.
US President Donald Trump has described the flooding as “shocking” and “terrible.” Trump has also promised additional assistance to the state.
