During the monsoon session of Parliament 2025, the opposition Congress and Samajwadi Party were seen continuously attacking the central government. He said at the White House on May 12, “I said, if you stop it, we will do trade. If not, we will do no trade.” He described the ceasefire as “historic” and attributed it to trade pressure.
However, India’s Ministry of External Affairs clarified that the ceasefire was at Pakistan’s request and there was no discussion of trade issues.
Trump said at a private dinner on July 19, “Five jets were shot down,” but did not specify which country the jets belonged to. This sparked controversy in India, with opposition leader Rahul Gandhi seeking an explanation from the government.
The BJP responded by accusing Gandhi of being sympathetic to Pakistan. India rejected Trump’s claim, saying the ceasefire was bilateral and there was no third-party mediation.

Prime Minister Modi told the Lok Sabha on 29 July 2025 that Operation Sindoor sent a strong message to Pakistan on the issue of terrorism and no world leader has asked India to stop it. He warned those sponsoring terrorism that such operations will continue.
