SNPNEWS.IN News Update, September 25: The tragic incident occurred at around 11 PM on September 13, 2025, at Mata Rani Chowk in Jalandhar’s Model Town area, where four vehicles collided at high speed. Akali leader Mahinder Singh K.P’s Son Richie Singh sustained severe injuries and passed away during treatment after being rushed to a hospital. The incident has sent a wave of grief across Punjab’s political and social circles.

According to the police, the accident was caused by high speed and sudden braking, leading to the vehicles colliding with each other. The police have registered a case against the drivers for rash driving.

The investigating officer leading the probe in Jalandhar stated: “The accident occurred due to a high-speed Hyundai Creta becoming uncontrollable. This vehicle collided with Richie’s SUV and then hit two other vehicles, involving a total of four vehicles.” The officer cited speeding and negligent driving as the primary causes. “The impact was so severe that the vehicles damaged the railing of a nearby shop. Richie’s vehicle suffered significant damage to its bonnet and one side, and the airbags deployed.”

Richie’s family includes his parents and two sisters. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his grief via a tweet: “I am deeply saddened to hear about the death of Richie K.P., son of senior Akali leader and former MP Mahinder Singh K.P., in a road accident in Jalandhar. My heartfelt condolences to the family. ”SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal also expressed profound sorrow over the loss.
