Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl first, which Pakistan’s opening pair S. Farhan (38-57) and F. Zeman (35-46) took with both hands. Pakistan was looking in a very strong position by losing 1 wicket in 12.4 overs and adding 113 runs.
As soon as both the openers were out, Pakistan’s innings collapsed. Except for S. Ayub (11-14), no Pakistani batsman could score more than 8 runs. Pakistan were bowled out for 146 runs in 19.1 overs after getting caught in the nets of Indian spinners. Indian bowlers Kuldeep Yadav (4-30-4), Jasprit Bumrah (3.1-25-2), Axar Patel (4-26-2) and Varun Chakravarthy (4-30-2) took wickets.
For India, Abhishek Sharma (6-5), who scored the most runs in Asia Cup 2025, Shubman Gill (10-12) and (captain Surya Kumar Yadav (5-1) who has been poor batting consistently for the last few matches), were not batting well in final.
India scored just 20 runs in 4 overs and lost 3 batsmen, after which the entire weight was shouldered by middle-order batsmen Tilak Verma (53-69)*, S. Dubey (22-33) and Sanjhu Semson (21-24) to lead India to victory. The winning shot was taken by Rinku Singh (1-4)*.
Pakistan bowlers F. Ashraf (4-29-3), S Afridi (4-20-1) and A Ahmed (4-29-1) took India’s wickets. India won the match by scoring 150 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19.4 overs.
