In the video, Akil mentioned being under severe mental stress due to family disputes and threats. He referenced his two young children (aged 5 and 7) while expressing his emotional turmoil and attempting to make the family situation public. He also claimed to have written a suicide note in his diary.
Following the release of this video, Akil Akhtar was found unconscious at his residence in Panchkula, Haryana, on 16 October 2025, and was declared dead. The video went viral on social media, turning the case into a significant political and social controversy, raising questions about the family’s reputation in public and media circles.
Given the high-profile nature of the case, the Panchkula Police are treating Akil’s video as a key piece of evidence. Based on the video & a complaint by Shamsuddin Chaudhary , an FIR was registered against Muhammad Mustafa, Razia Sultana, their daughter, and Akil’s wife. The police have initiated an investigation to verify the authenticity of the video and the allegations. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the matter thoroughly.
Muhammad Mustafa claimed that his son Akil was mentally unstable and a drug addict for a long time. He dismissed the allegations of an illicit relationship between himself and Akil’s wife, as well as the claims of a murder conspiracy, as baseless.
Mustafa stated, “The police have done their duty by registering the complaint, but the truth will come out through the investigation.” He further asserted that those making false allegations to tarnish the family’s reputation would face legal consequences. He, however, denied any close relationship with Shamsuddin, calling him a person with “malicious intent” and threatening legal action against him.
