A horrific incident in the Basti Bawa Khel area of Jalandhar has shaken the entire city. In an act that puts humanity to shame, a 12-year-old minor girl was first subjected to rape and then brutally murdered.
SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj): On November 22, a 12-year-old girl went missing in the evening near her home in Jalandhar’s Basti Bawa Khel area. After the family searched extensively and found no trace of her, they informed the police. When locals checked the area’s CCTV footage, the girl was seen entering a neighbor’s house.
When the police were informed about this, they initially showed negligence and only carried out a superficial check. Later, the locals themselves searched the neighbor’s house and found the girl’s body in the bathroom. Following this, the angry crowd severely beat up the neighbor.

According to police sources, preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused raped the child and then strangled her to death to conceal her identity.
As soon as news of this heartbreaking incident spread in the area, intense anger erupted among the local people. After catching the accused, the crowd demanded the strictest punishment for him and created a ruckus. In a fit of rage, the mob even attempted to set the accused on fire, which the police managed to control with great difficulty. The accused, Rimpy Singh alias Happy, has been taken into custody.
Questions are also being raised about the police’s handling of the case. The family has alleged that if the police had acted in time, the girl could have been saved. In light of these allegations, senior officials have suspended the Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) concerned for dereliction of duty and ordered an inquiry.
The police have registered a case against the accused under serious sections, including rape and murder. The body has been sent for post-mortem so that all aspects of the case can be thoroughly investigated.
A tense atmosphere prevails in the area, and police forces have been deployed for security. The public is demanding that the accused be given the harshest possible punishment at the earliest.
