Social media app X has gone down again today after January 13, leading to users worldwide complaining about issues.
SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj): Users of the social media app X (formerly Twitter), operated by Elon Musk’s company, faced problems starting around 8:26 PM IST on January 16, including the app/website not loading, blank screens, feeds not appearing, login failures, or server connection issues. Nearly 200,000 complaints about problems with app were registered from around the world. This outage was global and spread quickly. It had a significant impact in India as well, with users voicing complaints on Reddit and other platforms.

Prior to this, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, users encountered issues starting around 9:00–9:10 AM ET (approximately 7:30–7:40 PM IST). The app began functioning normally again after about 1–2 hours. That day too, reports came in from several countries including the US, UK, Canada, and India. On Downdetector, peak reports exceeded 28,000 (over 28,300 in the US), more than 8,000 in the UK, and over 3,200 in Canada. Users faced problems such as the app/website not loading, timelines not appearing, inability to post, or direct message issues.
No official statement has come from app or Elon Musk yet. However, similar to previous outages, it appears to be due to backend server issues, software updates, or connection problems.
