AI-generated video of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron’s joint press statement goes viral, becomes a topic of discussion.
SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj): On February 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron gave a joint press statement in Mumbai, which is related to elevating India-France relations to “Special Global Strategic Partnership” and launching “India-France Year of Innovation 2026”.
After tampering with this 29-minute long statement, a video clip has gone viral on some Pakistani social media accounts after changing the voice and lip-movement with the help of AI, which allegedly shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that Pakistan had shot down Rafale fighter jets during the Indo-Pakistan war (Operation Sindoor), after which India became a laughing stock worldwide, the video claims that partnership with France is no longer a loss (like whether 10 or 200 jets are shot down, it doesn’t matter because new ones will be made).

But there is nothing like that in the original video (Joint Press Statement uploaded on Modi’s official YouTube channel on 17 February 2026). In it, Modi and Macron talked about Indo-France relations, the Rafale deal (114 new jets and co-production), AI, defence and innovation. The emphasis on Rafale was only on future cooperation and Make in India, not any admission about losses in the 2025 conflict.
In the 2025 India-Pakistan conflict (May 2025), Pakistan claimed to have shot down Indian jets, including 3-5 Rafales, and some international reports (Reuters, Le Monde, Axios) mentioned the loss of at least 1 Rafale (India has not officially admitted any such losses in full) nor has Modi himself “admitted” it to Macron or at any public event. This video is part of the propaganda and disinformation, especially during Macron’s visit to India (February 2026) videos making false discussions and claims about the Rafale deal.
