Ceasefire: Trump stops war, Iran tells people to celebrate

The latest news regarding the ongoing war between Israel-Iran-America is that an agreement has been reached between America and Iran for a 2-week (two weeks) ceasefire.

SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj) America Israel Iran War After February 28 (America Israel attack on Iran), Iran had closed the Strait of Hormuz, which had increased oil prices worldwide. Trump had threatened Iran with fierce attacks and had also set a deadline, but diplomacy came to the rescue in the last hours.

US President Donald Trump announced that he was stopping attacks on Iran for 2 weeks, provided that Iran immediately opens the Strait of Hormuz and ensures safe movement of oil. This ceasefire is said to have been brokered by diplomatic efforts by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir. Officially, talks between Iran, America, Israel will begin in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on Friday (April 10, 2026).

Iran has accepted the ceasefire. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that if the attacks stop, they are ready to accept the ceasefire and are ready to open the Strait of Hormuz (under Iranian military supervision). This is only a temporary ceasefire for 2 weeks, negotiations will continue for a long-term peace. Iran wants the US military to withdraw from the region, sanctions to be lifted and frozen assets to be returned.

Israel is not entirely happy with this agreement. There is concern that Iran’s nuclear program is still a threat and that it could become more powerful. Even after the ceasefire announcement, there are some missile warnings and reports of attacks, so it is very delicate.

Trump’s full statement (announced from Truth Social, April 7, 2026): “Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double-sided Ceasefire!

The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive agreement concerning Long-term PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East.

We received a 10-point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed between the United States and Iran, but a two-week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated. On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution.”

The full statement from Iran regarding the 2-week ceasefire is as follows (issued by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi): “If attacks against Iran are halted, our Powerful Armed Forces will cease their defensive operations. For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran’s Armed Forces and with due consideration of technical limitations.”

A statement was also issued by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, which said: Iran has accepted the proposal for this 2-week ceasefire (with the approval of the new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei). This ceasefire is temporary and does not mean a complete end to the war. The talks will begin in Islamabad on Friday (April 10, 2026).

Iran wants talks based on its 10-point proposal, which includes key demands such as regulated traffic in Hormuz under Iranian military supervision, lifting of sanctions, ending further wars in the region and reconstruction.

Iran has presented this as a victory and said its forces are always ready — “Our hands remain upon the trigger, and should the slightest error be committed by the enemy, it shall be met with full force.”
