Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the opposition including the Congress for failed to get the required two-thirds support in the voting the Women Reservation Bill.
SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj): Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 8:30 pm tonight. This 29-minute ‘National Address’ of the PM came on the second day of yesterday’s events, in which the Women Reservation Bill included in the ‘package’ of the ‘Delimitation Amendment’ of the 131st Amendment Bill of the Constitution in the Lok Sabha failed to get the required two-thirds support in the voting.
Political analysts have called it ‘Gerrymandering’ (delimitation being done for political gains).
In his address, the Prime Minister addressed the mothers, sisters and daughters of the country and said that their dreams have been crushed. He launched a scathing attack on the opposition, especially the ‘family-oriented parties’ like Congress, Trinamool Congress and DMK, calling them anti-women and terming the decision as akin to foeticide.
The PM said that he apologizes to the entire country because this bill could not be passed. He also warned the opposition that they will regret it for a long time.
In this address, the Prime Minister spoke in detail about the incidents that took place in Parliament and reiterated his commitment to women empowerment.
Apart from this, he also called the opposition ‘anti-reform’ and strongly presented the NDA government’s desire to increase the participation of Indian women.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Yesterday, the eyes of crores of women of the country were fixed on Parliament. I too felt very sad. When the women’s interest resolution fell, the leaders of SP, Congress and DMK were clapping, thumping the table. This was a direct blow to the dignity of women.’’
He further said, ‘‘Women never forget their humiliation. The opposition party will definitely be punished for the sin they have committed by opposing women’s reservation. These people have also insulted the framers of the Constitution. The Prime Minister also said that the Nari Shakti Vandana Amendment in the House was such a proposal that had something for every section.’’
He said, ‘‘When for some people, the party interest becomes everything, the party interest becomes bigger than the national interest, then the women’s power and the national interest have to bear the brunt of it. The same thing happened this time too. The country’s women power has had to bear the brunt of the selfish politics of parties like Congress, DMK, TMC and Samajwadi.”
The Prime Minister further said, ”Personally, I had hoped that Congress would rectify its decades-old mistake, repent for its sins, but Congress lost the opportunity to create history and stand in support of women.”
He said, ”Congress’s existence has already ended in most areas of the country. Like a parasite, Congress maintains its existence by taking the help of regional parties, but Congress does not even want to see regional parties become strong. Therefore, it has created a political conspiracy to push many regional parties into darkness by inciting them to oppose this amendment.”
Bakaul Modi said that hanging, stalling and distracting has been the work culture of Congress. Its deceit has harmed the country.
