Bhawanigarh: AAP divided into 2 factions over the presidency of the truck union

Bhawanigarh: The issue of the presidency of the truck union has become a battleground for the MLA from Sangrur Narinder Kaur Bharaj and (Gurmel Singh Gharachon, Chief Minister’s OSD Rajbir Singh) faction.

SNPNEWS.IN News (Bhawanigarh): The election of the presidency of the truck union of Bhawanigarh town of Sangrur has once again become a topic of discussion. The Aam Aadmi Party is seen divided into 2 factions over the presidency of the truck union. The appointment of Malvinder Singh Mala as the president by the faction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s OSD Rajbir Singh and Sangrur district president Gurmel Singh Gharachon has become a matter of controversy.

Aam Aadmi Party’s MLA from Sangrur Narinder Kaur Bharaj alleged that at the behest of the other faction (the Chief Minister’s OSD), her (Bharaj) candidate Lovely Sharma Kakra and supporters were called for a meeting in DSP office and the Bharaj faction was locked up in the DSP office so that Malvinder Singh could be elected as the president without opposition. The MLA accused the police administration (at the behest of Rajbir) of pushing the workers. Earlier, pictures of the police administration and the Bharaj faction Conflict had also surfaced.

Angry with the election process, the Bharaj faction staged a protest on the Chandigarh-Bathinda National Highway on April 25-26, blocking traffic. During the clash between the protesters and the police over the opening of the road, police vehicles were vandalized and three police personnel were injured. The police have so far arrested 27 people and a case has been registered against more than 150 unidentified people.

Narinder Kaur Bharaj questioned her own government’s police and called the police action one-sided and provocative. MLA Bharaj directly alleged that at the behest of OSD Rajbir Singh and Gurmail Gharachon, their supporters were locked in the DSP office and elected as president in an ‘undemocratic’ manner. She said that the information about this entire matter has been given to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and he can also approach the High Court regarding this matter.

During the Bhawanigarh Truck Union dispute, the Rajbir Singh (OSD) and Gurmail Singh Gharachon faction believe that the election of the new committee and president was done through a proper process. Newly elected president Malvinder Singh denied the allegations of the other faction (MLA Bharaj) and said that if the MLA has any grievance, they will resolve it together.

Sunam MLA and Minister Aman Arora made it clear that no kind of bullying will be tolerated in the union elections. He assured that a fair investigation into the entire incident and violence will be conducted so that the truth comes out. He indicated that the party is strict against those who violate internal discipline, as this incident has hurt the party’s image in public.
