America Agrees to Ceasefire with Iran, Israel Rejects the Deal.

The US-Israel-Iran war, which began on 28 February 2026, has finally come close to a ceasefire agreement. On 19 June, representatives of Israel and America will sign the agreement in Geneva.

SNPNEWS.IN News (Gurmail Kamboj): The Israel-Iran-America war started on 28 February 2026 when the US and Israel jointly launched missile attacks on Iran’s capital, Tehran. The stated aim was to destroy Iran’s nuclear programme and bring about regime change. After US and Israeli forces targeted and attacked Iranian officials and leaders (including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and others), the conflict intensified.

In retaliation for the US-Israeli attacks, Iran hit Israel and Gulf countries (which host American military bases) with missiles and drones, causing massive damage to infrastructure.

In addition, the IRGC closed the Strait of Hormuz — the critical route that supplies more than 20% of the world’s energy needs. This caused crude oil and natural gas prices to skyrocket, leading to record inflation worldwide. After fertilizer and gas supplies from the Gulf were disrupted, China and Russia halted fertilizer exports to meet their domestic needs, raising fears of food shortages in countries including India.

Under increasing international and domestic pressure, and after damage to military bases in the Gulf, America — which had initially claimed it would destroy Iranian civilisation in the first week of the war — eventually came to the negotiating table. Mediated by Pakistan and Oman, it agreed to a deal. A two-week ceasefire that began on 8 April 2026 reached an agreement on 14 June. This has brought great relief to the world.

According to a statement issued by US President Donald Trump on 14 June, both sides will sign the agreement in Geneva on 19 June. After the signing, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Reports also indicate that Iran has agreed to abandon the development of nuclear weapons, although a final decision on uranium enrichment is still pending.

Key Points of the Iran-US Agreement (as reported in the media):

● 60-day ceasefire and time for further negotiations.

● Reopening of the Strait of Hormuz (which Iran had closed) and removal of the US naval blockade on Iranian shipping.

● Economic benefits for Iran (including oil trade) if commitments are met, but no upfront payment.

● Regional stability, particularly Israel-Lebanon issues.

● Iran’s commitment to renounce nuclear weapons and remove/destroy enriched uranium.

● Discussions on releasing frozen assets (approximately $12-25 billion).

● Mutual commitment to respect each other’s sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs.

● Iran will remove mines from the Strait of Hormuz. After 60 days, Iran plans to charge “maritime service fees” (America disagrees with this).

● Israel views this interim US-Iran MoU as detrimental to its security and has expressed strong opposition.

The official signing is scheduled for 19 June 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland. Some reports suggest electronic signing has already taken place.

Pakistan played a major role in mediation. Trump called it a “Great Deal” and said the deal has already been signed.

Trump’s Truth Social Statement (14 June):

“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”

In a follow-up post, he wrote: “This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region.”

Trump described the agreement as a “Great Deal” and presented it as a major success. He claimed that this deal would ensure Iran never builds nuclear weapons. He said Israel should be thankful for this deal and called Netanyahu “difficult.” He also highlighted the benefits of lower oil prices for the global economy.

Iran has responded positively to the preliminary agreement announced by Trump but clarified that it is not a final deal. Iran is presenting it as its own victory.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi described it as an interim framework. Further talks on nuclear issues, sanctions relief, and other details will continue over the next 60 days. Iran remains firm on its rights, particularly uranium enrichment.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said, “Iran is the victor of this war.” He called it a victory for Iran’s power and diplomacy.

An IRGC spokesman stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain open toll-free for 60 days, after which Iran will begin charging “service fees” on ships. According to Fars News, America has recognised Iranian and Omani sovereignty over the Strait.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council stated: “As per the agreements, military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, are ending immediately and permanently from tonight. The American naval blockade on Iran will also be fully and immediately lifted.”

While America and Iran reached this agreement, Israel has rejected it. Israel has made it clear that it is not bound by the deal and considers the interim US-Iran MoU insufficient for its security needs.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz refused to withdraw forces from areas under Israeli control in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, calling them major victories.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said: “This deal does not bind Israel. It is a threat to our security.”

In a press conference, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated: “Israel is not bound by this agreement and will make decisions according to its security needs.”

He clarified that the ceasefire is with Iran and does not include the fighting in Lebanon. Israel will maintain its military presence in Lebanon and continue operations against Hezbollah. Israel will not withdraw from security zones.

Netanyahu added: “Trump and I fully agree that Iran must never be allowed to build nuclear weapons. In the final deal, Iran’s nuclear programme must be completely eliminated.”

He claimed that Israel and the US have delivered a heavy blow to Iran, significantly weakening its nuclear and missile capabilities. “Israel has been saved from total destruction, but the war is not over yet. We must remain vigilant.”

Netanyahu assured the Israeli public that Israel will do whatever is necessary for its security and thanked the Israeli army and the United States for their cooperation.
