Pakistan thanks US and says ‘Thank you for listening to us’
SNPNEWS.IN News (Jacknama): The ceasefire between US and Iran has been extended further. US President Donald Trump announced this on his social media handle Truth Social, although he has said that the siege will still continue.
The latest ceasefire is not for a specific date.
The previously announced ceasefire was announced on 7 April 2026. It was a two-week ceasefire and the period of this ceasefire was to end today i.e. 22 April 2026 (Wednesday).
Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, “The Iranian government is internally divided, as expected. Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have demanded that the attack on Iran be held until their leaders and representatives come up with a joint proposal.”
Trump further wrote, “Therefore, I have ordered my military to continue the siege and to be fully prepared in all other cases. The ceasefire will be extended until their proposal is presented and the negotiations are completed, regardless of the outcome.”

The White House has since confirmed that Vice President J.D. Vance’s trip to Pakistan has been canceled.
Vance was scheduled to visit Islamabad for the second time this month. He was scheduled to arrive on Wednesday to finalize the agreement with Iranian officials.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif wrote on X,”
I sincerely thank President Trump for accepting our request and extending the ceasefire, so that diplomatic efforts can move forward.”
Sharif said, “Pakistan will continue to seek a solution through dialogue with trust and confidence. I hope that both sides will abide by the ceasefire and can reach a permanent ‘peace agreement’ in the second round of talks in Islamabad, which will put an end to this dispute forever.”
However, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif did not say clearly when the second round of talks in Islamabad will take place.
